About

健康、予防、治療 を目的とするライフサイエンスの研究を推進するためには有機化学、薬学、生化学、生物学等の各分野がそれぞれ得意とする知識と技術を総合して考える必要があります。しかし、技術が高度に進化し、現象を深く理解できる様になった現在、ひとつの研究室でライフサイエンス研究することは困難になりつつあります。

こうした現状を踏まえ、私たちの研究室では、生化学の分野で興味のもたれている生理活性分子の中から、天然界からの抽出では入手が困難でかつ複雑な構造をもつ生理活性化合物をいくつか選び、それらの全合成を研究しています。一方、キラル炭素?炭素結合を形成する新反応の開発も手がけています。キラル炭素の構築には遷移金属触媒を好んで用いています。高効率的な反応を開発できる可能性が高いと考えているからです。

標的分子によっては新反応開発にとらわれず、全く自由な発想に基づいて合成法をデザインします。合成研究では、全収率、ステップ数、個々のステップでの立体選択性、位置選択性などに関して高い値が求められています。私たちはこれらの評価項目に加え、光学活性体合成に応用可能な反応や方法論の開発、単純なモデル化合物ではなく標的分子そのものの合成を完成させることを心がけています。

これまでに以下の標的分子ファミリーの合成を手がけてきました。 このうち、植物の防御に関するシクロペンタノイドの研究では生化学者との共同研究に発展し、β酸化酵素の同定とレセプターを発見することができました。また、炎症に関係する分子でも生化学と共同研究しています。
